The Dark Knight

The unfortunate death of talented actor Heath Ledger may have taken some of the fun out of the anticipation of the opening of The Dark Knight. I haven't seen a lot of aggressive TV marketing yet. There is a big viral campaign on the internet with a few Warner Bros. websites pushing the film.

Although I really enjoyed the first two Batman films directed by Tim Burton, Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins released in 2005 is the best so far in the franchise.

I liked the noir feel of Burton's Batmans, but Nolan has nailed the whole look and feel of what you would expect from the interpretation of some of the Frank Miller written Batman comics. Michael Keaton did a great job, but Christian Bale is a more believable Batman. Jack Nicholson's Joker can't be forgotten and is classic. Heath Ledger looks the part as I've seen in the previews. We'll have to wait and see how his Joker compares. If you like these type of films, then I'm sure you're holding your breath. The Dark Knight opens July 18. Can you hold your breath that long?

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

The most anticipated film of this year in my opinion. Raiders of the Lost Ark has to be on the top 10 lists of everyone who has ever seen it. The new film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is Steven Spielberg's lastest in the Jones series. No Sean Connery this time, but the return of Karen Allen and the addition of Cate Blanchett and Shia LeBeouf.

I don't want to ruin the story for you purists out there, but it involves Cold War intrigue, alien mystical skulls and a passing of 20 years since the last adventure. If you want to go crazy with the Indiana Jones scene check out indianajones.com and enjoy the full fanboy experience.

It will be released on May 22nd. Can you wait? I can't.
